Henry Smith had a degenerative eye disease, yet still made it through college and seminary.

But, after graduation, he was declared legally blind. Unable to get a pastorate… of even any long-term employment, he moved back home and worked various odd jobs to support himself.

What kind of life was that to live? What kind of future did Henry have?

Henry remembers thinking, “I remember being extremely thankful, and I remember my pastor quoting 2Corinthians , that Christ, though He was rich, became poor for our sakes that we might be rich in Him.&#; So, Henry wrote a song about his situation… and entitled it – of all things – “Give Thanks”.

It was several years before this simple chorus was published… and even several more years before Henry was given credit for it.

Henry has written over songs that are Scripture songs, and, today, he runs a recording studio and plays bass guitar for his church worship team.
